BuddyPress 1.2.6 time to upgrade and the double button fix for members
As most will know by now BuddyPress 1.2.6 is now out – grab it right here. This release has a ton of fixes and we’ve just released 10 updates to our themes for you with more coming in the next few days. As of now you can update: Product, Daily, Business, Business Blog, Business Portfolio, Business Feature, Studio, Scholar and Magazine. Get these themes right now here.
We always recommend you wait for a theme release before upgrading but what about if you’ve already upgraded or you just can’t wait? One of the most common issues we’re reading about and hearing is where the member list has double friend buttons. This actually isn’t that hard to fix but we’d strongly recommend this is only a temporary fix if you do use it:
1. Open up your theme and find members/members-loop.php
2. Find and remove:
<code><?php bp_member_add_friend_button() ?></code>
If you are having to do this minor update we’d strongly recommend it’s a temporary one and you at the earliest upgrade your theme when it’s available as this is only one of many changes you’ll need to be aware of such as JavaScript file changes and function.php changes.
