First of all we’d like to thank those of you who have joined BuddyDress we’ve seen a fair few new faces this week and we’re pleased as punch to see what you come up with using our themes so remember to link to your sites in the forum. That being said lets get on with this Friday Find and drop some link goodness down.

Buddypress blogtastic

Over at wpmu.org Sarah posted a list this week entitled 15 Excellent BuddyPress Blogs You Should be Reading – thank you for the mention Sarah. We’d suggest it’s well worth checking out as there are some great gems over there. For this week’s Friday Find I thought it was worth taking a look at a few of the blogs listed and doing a roundup of their latest topics.

Jeff Sayre has an interesting post entitled ‘The Growing Panoply of Speciality BuddyPress Developer and Administration tools’

Boone Gorges has a great article on ‘Setting up a WordPress/BuddyPress development environment on OS X’

Francesco Laffi delivers an nice tutorial entitled ‘Add confirm email field in BuddyPress signup page’

These are just some links but any of those blogs listed are well worth following some update more than others but worthy of a place in any BuddyPressers list of reading.

In wpmu.org this week

Wpmu.org as always was busy this week so here’s a nice selection of links from over there relating to BuddyPress:

We’re please to announce the release of our free colour pack for the default BuddyPress 1.2 theme today, Bp Colours.

What is a colour pack?

Simply put it’s a set of 5 child themes in various colours for the default 1.2 theme. It’s not just that though. We’ve gone through the theme and pulled out all the colour styling for you, put it in one CSS file in the child theme and included along with these 5 themes a master child theme that is all set up for you to create your own colour combination without having to pick through code – how great is that?

Child themes made just for you

Bp Colours uses child themes so you can be sure so long as the core of the 1.2 theme format does not change our colour packs will work. Whilst you probably want a custom theme for most sites we think that for test sites, quick sites and sites you just want to use the default theme on these will fit the job perfectly. Maybe you’ve always wanted to start diving into the parent and child themes more – these are a great way of getting a start.

Added to these child themes we’ve also added a functions file with a line you can show or hide to add or take away custom header images and a footer file you can easily add your own links or content to.

Bp Colours is free even if you’re not a member of BuddyDress

Yes, that’s right we’re giving these away free you don’t even have to be a member to get these themes – how great is that?

You can download them right here.

If you like these themes we’d encourage you to check out becoming a member of BuddyDress and the wide variety of themes we have on offer. We pride ourselves on offering value for money making great BuddyPress themes affordable for all.
