Everyone loves free gifts

A free theme at BuddyDress where possible is hosted on the official theme repository.  Existing members should see a link and non members can sign up to see the link or visit the theme repository and search for the theme it’s up to them.  Just look out for the FREE icon like in the image above and you’re set.  The theme page itself will also indicate if a theme is free or not.  They are now treated just like any normal theme you just don’t have to pay a thing!

The bp-theme menu is on two rows, and so…this is really really different from the default Buddy Press theme. This version is still in beta (i have problems in uploading images, but maybe it is my local installation issue, so you could please test this). The version come for the RC2 version of BP, and so you cannot use it with the older release.

DarkPress is a theme that is going to become a classic in the Buddy Press themes history (note: this version is for the RC1 version of Buddy Press, we will upgrade this to the Buddy Press 1.0 in the future). Black and blue atmosphere, professional looking, it can be suitable for communities that talk about music, software, videogames, sci-fi, media, and a lot of other things. Customizing it with your logo and/or header image is really easy, and i’ve included a full installation guide text in the download.

The experience of Facebuddy has been important to avoid the installation bugs that came with the early version of that theme. I hope this will help the Buddy Press community to grow up, because Andy Peatling has maden a great work with that software. Don’t forget to show here in the comments a link to your website with DarkPress running!

I cannot say the theme name, i cannot say when it will be officially released but be sure you’ll love it more than your girl/boyfriend. In my opinion this will be the best BP theme ever, and i’m sure a lot of you will get in touch with its black and dark blue atmosphere. I hope to find the best way to making installation easier, and this is actually my main effort and the real hard step into creating themes for BuddyPress (for me). Be sure this will blast you!

Update: if you are using the official 1.0 version of Buddy Press please go here for the updated version of this theme. Ladies & gentlemen: our first BuddyPress theme has been released! Facebuddy will change the look of your private network, giving to it a Facebook appearance.

Clean and simple: in this minimal work we’ve tried to avoid images (there’s only one for the background bar and one for your logo) ando so you can really install it in a second.

In the pack are included: the site-wide-css file, the background image, the .psd file to customize with your logo or site name, and the footer files that include credits to BuddyDress. Here come the screenshots and at the end of this post you’ll find the installation guide.

Note: if you are using the latest trunk of Buddy Press RC2, you can’t use older themes. You can download the updated version of Facebuddy that works ONLY with WPMU 2.71 and Buddy Press latest trunk. If you are using the RC1 version, you can download the zip in this post.

Put the home theme in your themes folder, and the member theme in the wp-contentmember-themes as usual

 If you want to customize your installation with your logo or your site’s name (recommended) then:

 open the logo.psd file with Photoshop (or similar) and customize it writing your site’s name. Then save it as “logo.png” in your wp-contentthemesfacebuddy home-themeimages  folder

Activate the Facebuddy home theme from Design > Themes. Then, select your member theme from Site admin > Buddypress > Select theme > Facebuddy
